Wollondilly Heritage Centre Excursion

2 weeks ago we had a fabulous excursion to the Wollondilly Heritage Centre. We were able to have a go at so many fun things such as washing, wringing and hanging out clothes, using an old fashioned butter maker, sorting apples and having a lesson in an old fashioned school.
Your outfits were amazing 2F, thank you for the efforts you went to! Here are some photos and I will post more very soon.

Swimmers!

Congratulations to our amazing swimmers! We are proud of you!

Recyclable Materials

The News topic for the rest of the term is recyclable materials. Students are asked to make something out of recyclables and present it to the class, explaining what they used.
Today we had some amazing presentations by Noah, Amelia and Niamh. Well done to these students!

How to Make a Juggling Ball

On Tuesday we had a great time following a procedure to make a juggling ball. First we watched the procedure on a website, then we wrote it out on our own and finally we followed what we had written to make our own juggling ball. It was very messy but lots of fun!
What did you think about this activity 2F?

Retell the Story

A reading strategy we have learnt is "retell the story". Today after reading "The Cat in the Hat Comes Back" 2F got into groups and acted out part of the story to retell it. We had a great time and it was good to see all the kids had excellent comprehension of the story. What did you enjoy about this activity 2F?

Excursion, Colonial Dress

When we go on our excursion we have been asked to wear colonial dress. It helps the students to get into character as they learn about the past. Please do not feel like you need to hire/buy a costume! If students don't have any colonial dress, they can wear their school uniform.
Colonial dress can be as simple as a long skirt/dress for the girls and long pants and a shirt for the boys. We'd love our parent helpers to dress up as well. I will be drawing the parent helper names out of a hat on Monday week 3 and contacting you straight after.
Here are some photos of people in colonial dress:

The Way Things Were News

Well done to Daniel, Emily, Grace, Hayden and Joshua on your excellent preparation for News this week. It was so interesting finding out about the toys your parents treasured when they were younger.
Can you remember what any of them were 2F?
