"Pandamonium!"

Our “CAFE” menu is beginning to come together. We have already learnt 4 effective reading strategies and are looking forward to our next one.

Our CAFE Menu

To expand vocabulary, we have been learning to “tune in to interesting words”. We really enjoyed the book we read yesterday, Pandamonium (D. Crisp and M. Chambers).

It was funny and it had so many interesting words! Ben wrote the words we found interesting on the board.
Have you read any interesting words lately? Please let us know so we can read about them at school!

Our First Day

The first day of our 2F was wonderful. We were very excited to welcome two new students to our school and classroom, Cooper and Amelia
2F can’t wait to get to know these two fantastic children more!

We got to work straight away, and have begun to learn about “The Daily Five”. Today we learnt:
  • Ways to Read a Book
  1. Read the words
  2. Read the pictures.
Tomorrow we will learn the third way to read a book...

  • Read to Self
We talked about why it's important to read to ourselves and what this should look like. We practiced this together and will keep working to build our stamina with our reading.
  • Comprehension Reading Strategy: Check for Understanding
When we read, it's so important that we understand what we are reading. Today we learnt that as we read to ourselves, we need to "Check for understanding".

We have already begun an exciting learning journey today. I'm looking forward to seeing how much we will learn together this year 2F!
