"From little things big things grow..."
In Science we are learning about Living Things. Last week we planted some climbing bean seeds ad they have already begun to grow! At the moment they are 9 days old. Amelia and Zoe's are the tallest at the moment. How is your seed going?

Computers
2F love our computer lessons. We do different things every week when we go to computers. This week everyone finished typing a recount they have been working on and did some word work on Microsoft Word. There are some very good typers in our class!

The Magic Beach
We are doing an author study on Alison Lester this term. She is an Australia author and has written a lot of intriguing picture books for children. Today we read "The Magic Beach". We learnt about adjectives and discovered some excellent describing words in the book.

Cricket with Nathan
We had a guest come to school today to teach us all about cricket. Nathan was a fantastic teacher and helped 2F to learn lots of important skills that will help us to play cricket later.
Can anyone remember anything he taught us?

Messy Word Work!
We are having lots of fun this morning with our Word Work! We are working on practicing spelling words correctly that we misspelled in our writing last week. The shaving cream writing was definitely the most popular today!
Do you have any suggestions for fun Word Work activities?

Read to Self
Each day as part of the Daily Five, 2F have been taking part in an activity called "Read to Self". We know that the best way to become a better reader is to practice using Good Fit Books. I have been so impressed by the way 2F have worked so hard at building their reading stamina and today we have reached a new "Read to Self" record:
Congratulations 2F!
Here are some questions you can answer by leaving a comment:

Mathletics
This term we will be doing Mathletics tasks as part of our homework. We use Mathletics because it is a different, fun way to learn about Maths. Each week you will have 2 or 3 tasks to complete before you can go onto exploring the rest of the website.
If it is hard for you to access a computer or if you have any questions, please let Mrs Frances know. Have fun!

A Triathlete in our Midst!
One of our 2F champions, Ben, completed the Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon on the weekend. He powered through a 100m swim, a 3km bike ride and a 500m run and still somehow managed to make it to school on Monday.
Well done Ben! We are all very proud of you and inspired by what you have achieved.

"Pandamonium!"
Our “CAFE” menu is beginning to come together. We have already learnt 4 effective reading strategies and are looking forward to our next one.
Our CAFE Menu |
To expand vocabulary, we have been learning to “tune in to interesting words”. We really enjoyed the book we read yesterday, Pandamonium (D. Crisp and M. Chambers).
It was funny and it had so many interesting words! Ben wrote the words we found interesting on the board.
Have you read any interesting words lately? Please let us know so we can read about them at school!
